Xylem fiber is an organic flocculent fibrous substance obtained by processing natural renewable wood through chemical treatment and mechanical method, which is widely used in concrete mortar, gypsum products, wood pulp sponge, asphalt road and other fields. It can be used in the manufacture of medium fiber boards, which have a wide range of applications in the home building materials industry. Xylem fiber is divided into gray and white, while white xylem fiber can be divided into ordinary xylem fiber and polymer xylem fiber , and these products are non-toxic, tasteless, non-polluting and non-radioactive.
Unlike cellulose, xylem fiber is insoluble in water, weak acids, and alkaline solutions and has a neutral pH value, improving the system’s corrosion resistance.
With small specific gravity and large specific surface area, xylem fiber has excellent thermal insulation, heat insulation, sound insulation, insulation, and air permeability. It has uniform thermal expansion and is not easy to shell and crack while having higher wet film strength and covering effect.
Xylem fibers have excellent flexibility and dispersion, and form a three-dimensional mesh structure after mixing, thus enhancing the support and durability of the system, which in turn improves the stability, strength, compactness, and uniformity of the system.
The structural adhesion of xylem fibers allows the processed precast slurry (wet and dry) to remain homogeneous and reduces the shrinkage and expansion of the system, which greatly improves the accuracy of the construction or precast part.
Xylem fibers are highly resistant to frost and heat. When the temperature reaches 150°C, it can insulate for several days; when the temperature reaches 200°C, it can insulate for tens of hours; and even when it exceeds 220°C, it can insulate for several hours.
Xylem fibers are easily dispersed in the insulation material, forming a three-dimensional spatial structure and adsorbing 6-8 times their weight in moisture. It improves the material’s ease of use, workability, and resistance to slipping and falling while speeding up construction. The length and thermal stability of xylem fibers play a good role in insulation and crack resistance. Its function of transferring moisture makes the hydration reaction between the surface of the slurry and the interface of the base layer more adequate, thus improving the surface strength of the insulation material, the bonding strength with the base layer and the uniformity of the material strength. These excellent properties make xylem fiber an indispensable additive in thermal insulation materials.
