Redispersible latex powder is a water-soluble powder comprising copolymers such as ethylene/vinyl acetate, vinyl acetate/ethylene carbonate, and acrylic acid copolymers. The most commonly encountered types in China are VAE latex powder and vinyl acetate latex powder. The powder is spray dried to make an adhesive in which polyvinyl alcohol acts as a protective colloid. Upon contact with water, the powder quickly re-disperses into an emulsion. Due to its high bonding strength and unique properties, including water resistance, workability, and thermal insulation, redispersible latex powders find extensive applications across various fields.
Redispersible Latex Powder Characteristics
Redispersible latex powder has outstanding bond strength to improve the flexibility of mortar and extend its open time. It gives mortars superior alkali resistance and improves adhesion, bonding, flexural strength, water resistance, plasticity, abrasion resistance, and workability. For flexible crack-resistant mortars, it exhibits excellent flexibility.

Storage Considerations
It is recommended that dispersible latex powder be stored in a cool, dry place for a period of six months. When using in summer, please use as early as possible to avoid the increased possibility of caking caused by storing in a hot and humid environment. After opening the package, please try to use it all at once, otherwise please seal the bag to avoid absorbing moisture in the air.
Redispersible Latex Powder Experience Sharing
According to our company’s many years of experience, the minimum amount of dispersible latex powder to be added to one ton of mortar or putty is 7kg, i.e. more than 7kg to form a film. Please note that some manufacturers may mislead customers by claiming that 3 to 5 kilograms of additive is enough, but less than 7 kilograms is almost useless and will increase the cost. Latex powders are originally produced with 2% ash, which some manufacturers increase to around 12% ash for ease of storage. Of course, it is also possible to directly produce a product containing 12% ash. Each manufacturer’s process is different, and an ash content below 12% will greatly increase the risk of caking. There are many more experiences with latex powder, if there is a need please contact our engineers who can provide one-on-one guidance and communication.
