Why do I need to leave a gap in the tiles?
Tiles, although dense, are subject to cold contraction and heat rise. Similar to the movement of the earth’s crust, tiny movements between tiles can occur. If you don’t leave a seam, it may cause a large hollow drum over time.
Why do I need to caulk the tiles?
Caulking prevents dust buildup, reduces moisture penetration into the cement layer, prevents bacterial growth, and is also aesthetically pleasing.
When is the best time to caulk tile?
It is advisable to wait a week after tiling before caulking because by this time the cement adhesive underneath the tiles has cured and dried and no further shrinkage will occur. However, the general tiling workers may be on the spot to give you caulking. If waiting a week doesn’t do it, you don’t have to force it.
How many kinds of materials for tile caulking?
-
White Cement
White cement was the first caulking material used, but its density and physical properties are not ideal. Over time, problems such as blackening, yellowing, and mold can occur, so it has almost been eliminated.

Dry-mixed Grout for Tiles
For the first time, it was upgraded to a cement-based caulk, also known as a dry-mixed grout for tiles, which is divided into two types: with sand and without sand. The caulk with sand is usually used to fill large joints, such as balcony wall tiles and cultural tiles.
Dry-mixed Grout for Tiles
Cement:350kg
Fine Sand:650kg
HPMC:0.5kg
Carbon Black:right amount
Redispersible Latex Powder:10kg
The grout is available in other colors in addition to adding carbon black to adjust the color as needed. White cement is usually used and pigments of the desired color are added. HPMC is hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, whose main function is water retention and maintenance-free. The amount of latex powder added to the grouting agent in the wall construction solidification after watering without absorbing water as a standard.
Fill small cracks with sand-free type
The weight percentage composition of the caulking agent is approximate as follows: 40%-55% of white cement, 40%-55% of quartz powder, 0.05%-0.5% of hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose or methyl cellulose, 0.2%-0.5% of ethylene vinyl acetate powder latex, 0.2%-0.5% of mold inhibitor and 0-3% of pigment.
The production equipment of tile grouting agent is the same as that of tile adhesive. The output can be large or small. You can refer to 10-20T/H Dry Mix Plant or 3-5T/H Dry Mix Plant.
